Emile Heskey iForgiven for knocking Rio Ferdinand out of the World Cup

There's one day to go, the pubs have their giant screens up, the St. George's flag adorns every white van in sight and people are already planning their sick days...but are we setting our selves up for a fall here?

In today's Independent, they report that:

"The England striker Emile Heskey said yesterday that he still felt guilty for his part in the challenge that ended Rio Ferdinand's World Cup finals despite being forgiven by the England captain."

Emile heskey (who normally plays for Aston Villa), faced a challenge by Ferdinand during the team's first training session on Friday. It was reported that Ferdinand's knee was so badly damaged that almost immediately, he knew he was out of the World Cup. Oh how I feel for this guy. Not only has he inured another player *just* before the big day, he's actually taken out the Captain.

So how forgiving are we? Will we jump back on this incident in the days to come if the team flops out of the World Cup, or will we remember that this was an accident? Time will tell...answers on a postcard from South Africa...
